SLSU, Gawad Kalinga partner for GK-NSTP immersion, research, extension

The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) forge partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK) for research, extension, and community immersion for students who will enroll in National Service Training Program (NSTP) for the next semester of academic year 2021-2022.

GK is a community development foundation which undertakes the role of building communities for the poor as its primary objective to become a catalyst in uplifting the quality of life through community organizing, shelter, health, education, environment, and livelihood geared towards an integrated, holistic and sustainable development

With this partnership, GK will identify and match the university to GK communities where it can implement its programs and projects, research, and deploy students for community immersion. GK will also make available resource materials that will help teaching-learning relationship of the university faculty members and students relative to social awareness and transformation.

SLSU, on the other hand, will allow GK Youth to help organize outreach activities for other campus organizations and the university. Likewise, the university will develop learning materials based on the GK experience through community-based research and development, and make the research findings availabe to the larger GK network.

The virtual ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between SLSU and GK took place on September 23, 2021.
