SLSU - MCC collabs with DepEd Maasin City Division for SHIELDS seminar-workshop

Gearing towards quality education and gender equality, a seminar-workshop titled ‘Safe, Healthy and Inclusive Environment of Learning and Development in Schools (SHIELDS) was held at Cacao Mountain Resort in Combado, Maasin City last January 24-26, 2024. With the collaboration between Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus and Dep.Ed- Maasin City Division’s school heads and teachers, a successful three-day activity was achieved. This three-day activity discussed various topics including the Handling of Bullying Cases and Violence in School, Retooling of Teachers on Child Protection Policy (CPP), and School Campaign on Child Protection through Information Education and Communication (IEC) Material Development.

Southern Leyte State University aims for quality education and promotes gender equality. It embraces diversity in learners’ ethnicity, socioeconomic status, emotional, mental, and physical development. The university is known for being open and friendly to any gender classifications where it maintains good relationship and interaction towards the members of LGBTQ+. The school promotes social well-being as well as gender equality without too much restrictions which leads to acceptance and consideration. Students of SLSU feels the acceptance in the community which helps boost their confidence in active participation, being productive, innovative, and creative students. Indeed, the school brings the essence of humanity and equality which helps students to increase their capacity of learning and look forward to develop their abilities. With these, SLSU-MCC is more than capacitated to extend to the community the mentioned school campaign which discussed issues on how to handle bullying cases and violence in school and in retooling teachers for the legal bases and notions of Child Protection Policy (CPP).

The successful three-day activity empowers Child Protection Policy (CPP) which capacitates educators in promoting a safer, healthier, and more inclusive environment for student learning and development.
