SLSU-MCC Collaborates with Phil. Red Cross Maasin Chapter; Organizes Bloodletting Drive

One simple act saves countless lives.

Southern Leyte State University-Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) pooled resources with the Philippine Red Cross Maasin City Chapter to form a Bloodletting Donation Drive. On April 24, 2024, Mighty Kingfishers gathered at the 2nd Floor SLSU-MCC Lobby to participate and volunteer in the philanthropic activity, which is anchored on SDG #3, Good Health and Well-Being.

Aside from the health benefits, donating blood can be an emblem of courage for those in need. Dr. April Gervie Makabuhay, City Health Officer at City Health Unit I (CHU), graced the event as the administering doctor of the bloodletting donation drive. For first-time participants, Dr. Makabuhay further emphasizes the virtue of saving lives through blood donation. Student nurse interns from the College of Maasin also actively joined in facilitating the activity by assisting CHU I and Philippine Red Cross personnel.

Blood is vital since it saves lives; instructors and students are recognized as modern-day heroes for sincerely volunteering to donate blood.
