PASS Pilot Run Marks Milestone in SLSU’s Digital Transformation

The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) successfully launched the Proximity Attendance Scanning System (PASS) through its pilot testing on the first day of the Intramural Meet 2025 at the Multi-Purpose Court, Main Campus.
The pilot run marked a milestone in the university’s initiative to strengthen efficiency and transparency in student-related services. Powered by RFID technology, PASS allows students to log their attendance instantly by simply tapping their student ID on the scanner.
During the pilot testing, students experienced firsthand the convenience of the new system. Attendance data were recorded in real-time and made accessible to designated officers, streamlining the monitoring of participants in large-scale activities such as the Intramural Meet. The smooth flow of the trial run highlighted the system’s reliability and its potential for university-wide implementation.
Spearheaded by the University Information and Systems Administration (UISA) in partnership with the Supreme Student Council (SSC), the project received positive reception from students and organizers. This signals a promising future for PASS in SLSU, with feedback gathered serving as valuable input for refining the system before its full rollout across all campuses.
With this successful start, PASS is expected to become an integral part of SLSU’s drive towards modernized, transparent, and student-centered services.
