In celebration of the 75th Founding Anniversary of Bontoc, Southern Leyte, the local government hosted a week-long festivity from June 9-15, 2025, centered around the theme, “Bontoc, Ipasigarbo Ka.” The event featured a vibrant lineup of activities that highlighted the town’s rich culture, local talent and creative spirit.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Agri-Aqua Trade Fair, organized by the Bontoc Municipal Agricultural Office under the leadership of Mr. Edgar Sabillo. This event gave local institutions and organizations a chance to showcase innovations and goods related to aquaculture and agriculture.
With its innovative and eco-friendly products, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Bontoc stood out during the event, bagging the award for “Best Agri-Booth,” with a cash reward of ₱5,000. Fresh fruits, seafood, processed agri-fisheries products, planting tools, and live tilapia were all included in SLSU Bontoc's impressive display.
Campus Director Gladys L. Pascual stated that faculty and students of the Fisheries program have been mobilized to lead the Aqua Clinic, alongside a simultaneous demonstration on Bangus Deboning with the participation of the Talisay Women’s Association.
“This activity was designed to equip participants on the essential techniques for efficient deboning, while also promoting food safety and proper handling,” Pascual added.
