SUMMER Livelihood Uplift Project - Equips Aspiring Entrepreneurs with Bartending Skills for Events and Hospitality

In an ongoing effort to enhance livelihoods and establish resilient communities, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) has successfully implemented another impactful activity as part of its flagship extension initiative, SUMMER-LUP: Skills Upgrading and Mentorship to Micro-entrepreneurs for Economic Resilience – Livelihood Uplift Project.
A Bartending Skills Training for Events and Hospitality was conducted on July 17, 2025, at the Food Technology Building. This hands-on learning experience was created to equip participants with practical, market-ready skills in the expanding service and events industry.
The training was conducted by experts Mr. Florencio Payac and Ms. Roxanne Cejas, with the objective of enhancing employability and entrepreneurial readiness, particularly for those with limited capital and resources, and promoting inclusive opportunities for women, youth, and disadvantaged groups in the local community. The training was focused on the development of core bartending skills that were in alignment with current industry demands and hospitality standards.
Upon concluding the program, participants were competent at mixing and serving fundamental mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages utilizing bartending gear and garnishes effectively. Demonstrate with flair and service etiquette.
This initiative is a direct contribution to the realization of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and is indicative of SLSU's unwavering dedication to inclusive and transformative extension services.
SLSU facilitates the conversion of knowledge into income, skill into opportunity, and passion into livelihood through SUMMER-LUP.
