STUDENT DORMITORY

SLSU offers two student dormitories that can house over 130 students. Dorm 1 has 8 rooms with 8-person capacity while Dorm 2 has 7 rooms with 10-person capacity. All rooms come with bunkbeds, cabinet/lockers for each student, and electric fans. The dorms also have study areas, living rooms, mess halls, comfort rooms, shower rooms, a laundry area, and a kitchen that are shared by the dormers.

To avail a slot in the dormitory, a student must be officially enrolled in the university. First year and indigenous students are prioritized. Application and inquiries are handled by the dorm attendant, Ms. Mavel Avila. She will conduct the assessment of the application by interview. She can be located at the USSC Building, 2nd floor, Career Planning Office.

ARTS AND CULTURE

At SLSU, arts and culture is given equal importance as to how it can illuminate our inner lives and enrich our emotional world.

It has a wider, more measurable impact on our economy, health and well-being, society and education. We recognize this impact to the SLSU community and think of our arts and culture as a strategic national resource.

Moreover, SLSU considers arts and culture as cultural expressions intimately linked to spiritual belief systems, including understanding of the relationships between nature and humans.

SPORTS AND ATHLETICS

SLSU gives value to sports and athletics for the members of the community who are sports-inclined. Here, we exercise and practice under the direction of athletic trainers or professional coaches, in order to develop skills, improve physical condition, and prepare for competitions. We maintain optimum physical fitness levels by training regularly, following nutrition plans, and consulting with health professionals. We also let our athletes participate in athletic events and competitive sports, according to established rules and regulations.

LEADERSHIP

Student Council

The SLSU Supreme Student Council represents and serves the students in the university. Students that are elected in the student council have the opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills by organizing and spearheading activities including the University Games and General Student Assembly.

Campus Headliner

The Campus Headliner is the official student publication of SLSU—this is for students who want to enhance their journalistic and writing skills.
