Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony Marks Milestone for Engineering Students

On August 11, 2025, the SLSU Library Mini Theater became the stage for a momentous event in the academic journey of future engineers — the Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony. The occasion served as both a rite of passage and a symbol of readiness, as students prepare to transition from the classroom to the real-world setting of their On-the-Job Training.
A total of 30 engineering students were formally capped and pinned during the ceremony: 22 from Civil Engineering, 7 from Mechanical Engineering, and 1 from Computer Engineering. The hard hat, representing resilience and responsibility, and the pin, symbolizing honor and commitment, together encapsulate the values expected of every future engineer.
The solemnity and significance of the event were heightened by the presence of distinguished university leaders. University President Jude A. Duarte, DPA, graced the occasion with his presence, alongside respected vice presidents Dr. Constantino G. Medilo and Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub. Their attendance reflected the administration’s steadfast support for the students’ academic endeavors and professional development.
The ceremony stood not only as a milestone but also as a testament to the students’ dedication and perseverance. It was a celebration of achievement, a reminder of the responsibilities that lie ahead, and an affirmation of the university’s mission to shape competent and ethical professionals ready to serve society.
