Advancing Digital Finance: BSP Visits SLSU Library for KRN Implementation

On May 29, 2025, the Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Library-Learning Commons warmly welcomed representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for an ocular visit as part of their ongoing implementation of the Knowledge Resource Network (KRN) program. This initiative is aimed at bringing the right information closer to communities, particularly in areas concerning central banking, financial literacy, and the country’s digital payment transformation.
The visit was led by Mr. Victorio III M. Tingcang, BSP Tacloban Area Director, together with Ms. Erma Lagarto, Bank Officer IV of BSP Visayas Regional Office. They were received by the staff of the Library-Learning Commons, who facilitated a tour of the Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) and provided updates on its current setup and usage by the academic community.
The primary purpose of the ocular inspection was to evaluate the implementation of the KRC at SLSU and identify areas for improvement and collaboration. As part of the visit, BSP also turned over updated publications and printed informational materials designed to enhance awareness and knowledge about economic policies, financial regulations, and programs promoting financial inclusion.
The Knowledge Resource Network is one of BSP’s major advocacies to support inclusive development by strengthening access to credible financial and economic information. It also complements the government’s efforts in promoting cashless transactions and a more resilient, digitally inclusive economy.
SLSU expresses its gratitude to BSP for the continued partnership and support in making timely and reliable financial information accessible to students, faculty, and the local community. The Library-Learning Commons remains committed to enriching its resources and programs aligned with national development goals.
The ocular visit and publication turnover conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) at the Southern Leyte State University Library-Learning Commons directly support Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. By enhancing the Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) with updated materials and reliable information on central banking, economic development, and digital finance, the BSP reinforces the university’s role as a hub for informed learning.
This initiative empowers students, researchers, and faculty with access to accurate, timely, and relevant resources—fostering critical thinking, financial literacy, and a deeper understanding of national economic policies. Through this partnership, both BSP and SLSU contribute to building an informed, educated, and financially aware citizenry.
