SLSU-Bontoc stud bags Young Farmers Challenge award 2 years running
Maurice Legalig, a Junior BS Marine Biology student of SLSU-Bontoc, got selected as one of the Provincial Awardees of the 2023 Young Farmers Challenge Program of the Department of Agriculture. Maurice successfully defended his project proposal "Ornamental Fish for Aquaponics" during the Business Pitching to the Provincial Level Judges on August 3, 2023, at the 4th floor Conference Room, DA-RFO8, Kanhuraw Hill, Tacloban City. He is set to attend the Finalization of Business Model Canvas on August 15-16, 2023, at Ormoc City.
Last year, three teams from SLSU-Bontoc were also among the Provincial Awardees of the 2022 Young Farmers Challenge Program.
The Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Program Start-Up is a government financial aid competition by the Department of Agriculture that will grant young agripreneurs a chance to present innovative and profitable agri-fishery-based enterprises and, in turn, are provided financial assistance of up to ₱80,000 to start up their businesses.
